Two Wolves in the heart...

Synchronicity is a sign in my life that I am on the right track about something important for me.

Two years ago I found a little story in a magazine, cut it out and hang it on my office wall because it touched my heart.
A few weeks ago my favorite talk show host read a slightly amended version of the same story at the closing of his radio show.
Recently I received a book with the intent of having the author join me on my radio show. One of his chapters starts with yet another version of the same story. Needless to say, I deceided to have him (Rick Hanson) on as a guest.

Here is the version that hang on my wall for two years (took it down recently when we painted the office):

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about the battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two "wolves" inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

Join me on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010 at 9am pst for my RadiantlyU show on http://www.970knuu.com/ for a conversation with Rick Hanson, PH.D., the author of the book: Buddha's Brain, the practical neurosience of happiness, love & wisdom.

Keep being RadiantlyU! Barbel :)
